  • So took the caad optimo out for its first proper ride tonight and have to say I really like it. It’s seems to be one of the last ones made before the dropped seat stay model that’s currently in the range. I have had a few ‘dales in the past but have to admit whilst I knew of the synapse caad 12 , 13 and the system sixes I didn’t know this model existed and it doesn’t seem to have been mentioned at all on here. So what’s it all about ? It’s racier than a synapse but where is it positioned and why doesn’t it get any love? I’ve junked the stock wheelset and changed contact points and now feels a lot lighter. Does anyone else have one ?

It's basically a caad10/12 but with less fancy aluminium and the stock builds aren't very fancy but otherwise I think they're very decent

  • Basically a more modern CAAD 8. There's no such thing as a bad alloy Cannondale frame IMO, they do know their stuff.

As you say, cheaper aluminium used but likely the Optimo is more robust than a CAAD12 with it's famously fragile toptube.
