I want to build a window seat with storage underneath in a large square bay that is single skin brick and am having worried about damp / condensation if it stops airflow - has anyone considered this sort of issue and is the better answer likely to be ventilation or putting internal insulation between the brick and the storage space?
You could insulate it as you'd only loose a bit of storage space. I would use MR MDF, finish in a mould resistant paint, and keep some sort of air flow path.
My guess would be that as long as other bricks can pull moisture then it shouldn't be critical.
Cheers - yeah there's plenty of space so I can lose a bit for insulation, I just didn't know how well it is likely to work! I prefer the idea of insulating as any insulation is probably good to have anyway...
