Stevo_com snr, for his 70th, we convinced him to go on a family holiday with my sister's family and mine. First holiday he'd been on in about 30 years. He's also in pretty advanced stages of MS. As a result of the shitty easyJet flight tiring him out (despite paying for all the extra assistance we could get), he had a fall on the second night and broke his pelvis. In Lanzarote. Insurance company, or to be exact the company that the insurance company farm the logistics out to, were fucking dogshit. Took two weeks to organise an air ambulance to fly him back to NI. I ended up staying on with him for the extra time when the "holiday" ended. Company ended up reneging on the verbal approval of a lot of various costs (like taxis to the hospital to visit him, and other stuff).
Lesson I learned is to double check who you will actually be dealing with if shit hits the fan, as it won't be the people you pay your money to. Also, make sure you have insurance as the quote I got for an air ambulance (which took me 5 minutes compared to the provider's 5 days) was £50k. I was at one point expecting to pay that as I did not have any faith in the company sorting it.
