Why particularly second hand?

Boardman Air 9.8. Before the cables went in vertically on the top tube, you want the one with the cables entering horizontally around the head tube.
You could build this up with Light Bicycle wheels and a 11s Ultegra di2 within budget.
Don’t be scared off by the Boardman branding. A good build on this frame will turn heads and ride as well as anything else.

was always under the impression that you can get more bang for your buck with second hand?

Beat me to it. Thanks, looks great. I'm certainly tempted but might hold my horses for a while to see what else the forum has to offer!

Why ever buy a new bike, unless custom made?

Pretty hard to go past Giant

Fair, not pushing 'new', just wondered is all.

I have the TT version of this frame and it looks practically the same!
Giant Propel's would be a good shout second hand.

Because you want a warranty you can claim on.
(Obviously you only get this from a custom frame for the period they'd in business)

Would only recommend 1st gen Propel if going electronic; the internal gear cable routing on that one is demented.
I'm in the market for a new (second hand) bike. I like road biking and I like going fast (doesn't mean I am but it's perception right?)
I was wondering what the forum consensus might be for what bike(s) to look out for as a best value second hand purchase. I'm thinking vaguely aero and carbon frame, there's a helluva lot out there so any suggestions of make and model is appreciated. Price would be around 1.5k to 2k?
I know components are important to look out for but thinking more generally about frames.
