Yeah - it was a mechanic I think. I'm sure they've had some training but shouldn't be making a major decision. Tough in bike racing cos you can't fuck about for 5 mins. I'd hope and expect the team/race medics did some protocols on him once back on the bike and patching him up.
It's exactly what you should be able to do, wait for doctor, be checked, cleared to race and then driven to catch up.
Honestly I feel like substitutions should be allowed too.

He had a wound on his elbow and was back at the race doctor's car shortly after the crash having that dressed. One presumes they did a concussion check whilst he was there, but even if they thought he had a concussion, I don't know what power they have to intervene and stop him riding.

I think they will have checked him over. I suppose my point is more they aren’t required to release the information. The ankle is reason enough.
