Read that Tratnik was on his own bike, which only has 3mm saddle height difference to JV's bike. And then he had the clear assignment of riding a bit behind Vingegaards group so a quick change would be possible in case of puncture

They were going to town on the difference in stem length on the commentary. A whole 15mm.

I think also that Pogacar has learnt where he is weakest (relatively) and to counter that he is taking the initiative and attacking on his terms.

He did that last year, several times and as I said, people said that was why he lost the tour (burning too many matches too early). It just depends how rested he is from the Giro as it's not like he's had a spring injury like last year.

He looked rediculously comfortable at the Giro. Not sure it touched the sides.

Why is Bradley now hanging out with Lance and Inchcape in America? Guessing he’s been given somewhere to kip but I never knew they were such good friends.

Yeah, but we’re not talking about the high mountains here. I thought the discrepancy would be less on this type of terrain.
And yes, I’m happy Rog didn’t lose time. But the stress must have been draining, I was stressed on his behalf…

And concussion. I don’t know enough about it to be able to suggest a suitable solution but someway of not having to decide so quickly has to be the way forward you’d think.

knowing now that his ankle was gone, then the wobble he had trying to get back on could have been because of that injury rather than his head. nuts that he did 50km with either injury

And concussion.
There's no mention of concussion in the article though, so are you deciding that based on tv pictures?
-
• #50440
Yeah I’d have to watch it again but doesn’t feel like a big leap. It also doesn’t state he passed any concussion protocol. Not sure they’d admit a form of negligence in their press release but maybe there’s precedent for this?

I've had a similar crash to his before, where I've gone over the bars and somersaulted, and didn't get concussion. I think teams are very aware of this and will have checked him yesterday and probably again today, but not every accident leads to concussion.
-

Of course. To me the guy assisting him looked uncomfortable with the situation. I’ll watch it again.
I think they will have checked him over. I suppose my point is more they aren’t required to release the information. The ankle is reason enough.

Who has the responsibility for making an injured rider stop? Is the race doctor meant to intervene?
-
• #50444
Jonas was on Tratnik’s bike. There’s a clip of them chatting whilst Jonas cools down.
-
• #50445
Yeah - it was a mechanic I think. I'm sure they've had some training but shouldn't be making a major decision. Tough in bike racing cos you can't fuck about for 5 mins. I'd hope and expect the team/race medics did some protocols on him once back on the bike and patching him up.

• #50446
It's exactly what you should be able to do, wait for doctor, be checked, cleared to race and then driven to catch up.
Honestly I feel like substitutions should be allowed too.
But hey, good old days. -

Honestly I feel like substitutions should be allowed too.
This is haram!

He had a wound on his elbow and was back at the race doctor's car shortly after the crash having that dressed. One presumes they did a concussion check whilst he was there, but even if they thought he had a concussion, I don't know what power they have to intervene and stop him riding.

It needs to be reported within 24hrs according to this. Not sure if the UCI would then publish a statement??

They clearly didn’t perform the roadside protocol yesterday. That said I’ve not seen it performed by anyone.
Rider for rider UAE are a considerably stronger team than Bora, so that Rog didn't lose any time on a stage where he was dropped/distanced a few times is probably mission accomplished for that team.
