I presume we get hit with 20-25% VAT and import tax buying from there?
-
• #7704
Yes. And handling fees from the courier.

I’m starting to see some wear after approx 550km, bit disappointing as it’s very comfortable and easy to wrap tape.

Mine is much worse than that and much less mileage.

Bike Components remove the VAT (19%) and shipping cost is 20 euro (but offer on the wheel is over).
When we order from condor to continental Europe, Condor go through a company that handles everything (custom clearance/VAT). But Condor prices are more expensive for us.
Bike Components is also offering this embedded custom clearance service for Swiss customers.
Don't know if a European seller is offering embedded custom clearance for UK delivery.

Do waterproof socks actually work? Don’t know why but I’ve always had it in my head they never do, like waterproof shoes.
-
• #7716
I solve waterproof shoes not working by wearing waterproof socks inside them and it works for me, like anything waterproof, breathability suffers and in some situations can land up feeling clammy, I find sealskinz bad for this
-

Best use of waterproof socks I’ve found is putting them on fresh into wet shoes for the commute home. They keep out a bit of water generally but in a downpour they just get soaking.

I've found Sealskins work perfectly, and even with holes in (I have armour-piercing toes) they work like a wet-suit, retaining the heat. I'm as happy with them as I am disappointed in GoreTex ... POS.
I've ordered 3 pairs of the Polaris for £27 posted to try, and if they don't work for me, then at least that's Christmas sorted for a couple of friends ;-)

I’ve stood in a bath with water in, in my sealskinz socks and my feet remained dry. As always with waterproof socks/shoes/overshoes it is water running down your legs into them that is the problem.

I used to have this - once I accepted I have big feet and sized up for shoes my socks last much longer.
Never owned waterproof socks but got excited by the idea of a bargain

And keeping water out also means keeping water in.
I decided long ago that it's better to have wet merino socks that waterproof socks. They stay warm, dry quick and generally better for foot health.

Yeah, mine's developed a nice missing patch near the hoods after only 325km. It's not hard wearing, that's for sure.

Oh snap! Looks like I missed out. Always wanted a full-sized Danny DeVito cut-out.
Yeah that Joystick bartape is a bargain
