But to do it successfully, it needs the whole of Visma-Lease a Bike to apply that pressure and, without Roglic and Kuss, and with a under prepared Van Aert, they've just not been able to do that this year. Even if they could, it would be a high risk tactic because Vingegaard is more likely to crack under that kind of pressure because of his interrupted preparation.
He did that last year, several times and as I said, people said that was why he lost the tour (burning too many matches too early). It just depends how rested he is from the Giro as it's not like he's had a spring injury like last year.
