  • Will probably do a big bike as it looks like it can be done now on Eurostar.

  • Back to allots after carbon phase.

  • are the hubs goldtec?

  • Heat, burst the plastic inner tubes and the broken carbon rims.

Can you explain this? Literally the tube expanded in the heat and blew the rim apart? Or the tube exploded in the heat and took the rim with it? Mental either way.

  • I had a Tubolito explode rather dramatically before, thankfully outside a wheel but I can see how it could damage a rim quite easily.

  • Tubolito explode

I've had two explode, luckily no rim damage.

They're boarderline dangerous to ride with imo.

  • Fucking hell!

  • Guess I was lucky that both of the ones I had deflated (one a slow puncture, the other a huge hole, both brand new) before I even got a chance to ride them.

    Gone back to latex tubes.

  • Were those some cheap tubolitos at ~7€ or the expensive ones at ~20€?

  • For me it was the expensive ones, nice way to waste £50.

  • Same, expensive ones, the one year guarantee ones. I did get a refund and replacements on them tbf. I really wanted them to be good for over seas tours, save hassle and all that.

Not that I'd use the replacements. They're being used to support a grapevine I'm trying to get to grow over a pagoda.

  • Was going downhill, breaking heated the tube - this popped the inner tube then i was riding on the rims before that broke from the weight of the front bag.

  • Holy shit!

  • Ready for BWC:

  • Love this build @HoKe

  • Seatpost link?

  • Saw this in da flesh recently. Beautiful. Especially the face bash-guard lol.

  • Cheers, was fun using a reasonable weight to the Brompton again for the BWC. But it will be soon revert back to dad mode soon…

  • Function over form 😉

  • Unfortunately H&H spindle didn’t really survive the UK weather. Only did about 2 years but to be fair it was 2 years of intense riding and some long trips to Paris. 🥳

  • Wow! I hope you didn't realise the failure the hard way... Presumably not or I guess you would have said. I nearly got ran over by a hgv when I was a student, fell in the middle of a fairly busy road after my ND side pedal snapped like this.

I feel UK weather and two years of use shouldn't be factor for something so critical to your safety. I'd be tempted to complain, or at least notify the manufacturer.

  • Luckily I was at the lights when I provided the load to the pedal before it snapped so the fall was pretty slow but very sudden.

My initial reaction was the either the derailleur or the chain snapped. Never thought it was be the pedal considering it is titanium spindle too. And for comical value I was manage to still pedal back home but via what felt like the smallest pedal in the world. (The connector for the detachable pedal) 🤣

I did mention this to the people I brought it from (bikegang from Taiwan) and they are getting me a free replacement, I need to send the pedals back to them to be assess but happy days. Currently using stock which is noticeably heavier.

  • Crikey! I have the same pedals on mine. I've found that Bike Gang are really good people to deal with.
