measurable solution to illegal migration
Illegal migration is a minor problem, about 25000 people have entered the UK illegally so far this year, and many of those are seeking asylum having come from places like Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Legal migration has increased enormously since we left the EU, as we have an ageing population and lack skilled workers in many areas.
Hopefully we can have a grown up conversation about migration, even with Farage hectoring from the other side of the house, now, because if we want economic growth then attracting immigrants is a key part of achieving that.
The worrying thing is - now that there is a vacum for opposition, how will the conservatives grow the party, right wing populist nut jobs would be odds on. This draws the country even further away from the centre ground and Labour will seek to appeal to the right as well (in 4 years time).
One ideal would be to actually achieve a measurable solution to illegal migration in the next 3 years, a tough task on its own. Labour also has to satisfy the left and centre of the country by revolutionising the NHS, growing the economy and becoming a self sufficient energy industry.
I hope Kier has a rabbit in the hat for this one.
