  • Based on my anecdata, yes.

  • We've only just made new bank notes.

  • Just seen cons held here in Bognor and littlehampton.

reaffirms my suspicions that most people around here are thick as pig shit. not an affluent area at all.

  • Geriatric Enclave..
    surprised they don’t..
    have a volunteer group
    patrolling the coastline..
    for small boats..

  • ^^^ so this is the red wall that became the blue wall now being the reform aqua wall?

  • In the very early stages of the c4 show last night they were talking about the boundary changes and it was referenced that the boundaries had been redrawn based on numbers on the electoral register rather than actual number of eligible voters.

The suggestion being that if Labour go for automatic registration there would be good reason to redraw the boundaries again with places like London and Birmingham getting dozens more seats.

  • Thanks for this.

  • Haha, the Torygraph now has the gall to complain about FPTP

It will be interesting to see if Starmer’s Labour win more votes at this election than the 10,295,907 that Corbyn won at the last election. Standing at 9,712,011 with two seats to declare.

  • Not a chance are there more than 550,000 votes across two seats.

  • Turn out nationally is down 7% between the 2019 and 2024 elections.

  • Has anyone been through Heathrow* today?
I'm assuming the terminals are heaving with Non-doms, 'businessmen', 'entrepreneurs' and techbros leaving the country on any available flight.

    [* Other airports are available].

  • That sounds good to me👍🏻

  • Reform has taken Basildon South and East Thurrock after the recount. That's five Reform seats now.

  • Comment under one of the 'labour got fewer votes than under corbyn' posts:

Funny thing is 2019 was sabotaged by Keir and his right wing cell within JC's labour, now @Keir_Starmer's labour is performing worse.

    Performing worse! My god.

  • Fucks sake. Was hoping they’d stay on 4.
Now they get to lord it up over the greens :(

  • Would've been nice to have an equal good Vs evil 4 at either end.

  • I feel like that is understandable, folk are so disillusioned with politics.

  • So adjusting for turnout, Labour total votes are about plus 1%.

I’ve not looked at the numbers but my gut feel is Labour did no better than under Corbyn, they won big because Reform split the Tory vote.

  • Rightly so, in my opinion. We've had fourteen years of increasingly poorer government, public services have been woefully underfunded and the rich have benefitted enormously whilst the poor have been driven into poverty.

  • Your gut feel is partly right. Labour under Corbyn mainly increased their vote in seats they already held, the difference between the 2019 campaign and this one is that the focus was on winning seats Labour had their best chance of winning, not increasing their share of the vote in seats they already held.

  • Yes - it was a very, very efficient way to get elected.
But also, not all the reform votes come from the tories - you can't just lump them together.

  • If anyone wants a giggle I highly recommend taking a stroll through the comments section of the DM and DX articles today.
The wailing and gnashing of teeth from the gammons is quite a sight to behold. A worrying number of commenters on there openly threatening to assault their new labour MPs/riot as well.

Let’s just hope labour ditch their new transphobic stance and the Lib Dem’s and greens are vocal enough to hold them to account.
