  • I don't think so, it snapped right in the middle, well below the shoulder. I can't really see what's stopping it from coming the whole way out. Maybe I need to try a tiny bit more force.

  • Automatic centre punch.
    Punch a dent close to the circumference of the protruding stud.
    Punch it several more times to give the dent some depth.
    Then use the punch tangentially in the dent to rotate the stud.
    I've never known this method to fail.

    The you have led a blessed life. That method might be necessary on a blind hole with a fastener snapped off flush, but here we have something which can be slotted and wound out the way it came in with a screwdriver.
