I hadn't gone out for a fast 5k in a long time, so think that pb was a little outdated.
I'm not built for running, I'm not built for skierg either really but I do enjoy the mix and trying to focus on technique and efficiency has been fun. For example I used to have much higher stroke rate on the rower because I assumed thats how you went faster.I will be introducing running back into the mix as it's still my favourite but I also want to continue with the Pete plan for rowing (I have like 2o weeks left still) - will see about the skierg as I have had shoulder pain and not sure if this is aggravating it
After a month or so of rowing and skierg, given that it's both independence day and GE day and it was a bright sunny morning I decided to try and complete 5km row, skierg and run today. I went for row first as thought if I could hold close to 19mins then I'd have a chance of completing it. In hindsight yesterdays rowing interval session was a mistake and after 2km I was feeling cooked. Got it done in 19:16 but was wrecked.
Next up skierg previous best was 22:10 so wasn't feeling too hopeful of getting sub 22 I could barely hold the handles for the last 1km as i was sweating but managed to get it done in 21:35.
Having not been running much over the last 6 weeks wasn't hopeful of getting a pb in the 5km (this was done on the treadmill so doesnt count) but after a bit of a warm up was able to nail an 18:39 5km. Meaning I scraped in at 59:30.
There's no records in the concept logbook for multiple events but that gets me 106th in the world this year for the row and 24th in the skierg for my age group - I'd be nowhere on the run.
still pretty pleased with that!
