Track bike clear out, 58cm and 56cm

Posted on
  • Hi all, unfortunately due to work commitments I’ve not been able to go out and ride as much as I’d like and limited garage space forces me to let go of some bikes.

    ————————

    Yellow -
Frame - Gitane ST- 58cm TT- 58cm Vitus XO tubing. Lovely French track frame that i fell in love with in Bordeaux and had to bring home. Nice tight geo, Tig welded and an interesting oval down tube.

Wheels - Dura Ace 7600 hubs front and rear (32h) laced to Mavic Reflex rims with continental 22mm tubs. The wheel set has seen very little use and with a good dusting would come up like new

    Cranks - Dura Ace 7600 (njs) 165mm

Cockpit - Nitto 90 Jaguar (njs), Super cross MTB bars

Seat - Pro Turnix seat with inline post

    ————————

    White -
Frame - Van Tuyl ST- 56cm TT- 56cm. Alpina forks. Again lovely tight geo currently fitted with 23mm tires but I’d say it’ll take max 25mm tyre as an any fatter would kiss the down tube. This frame also has an interesting bridgeless seat stay design.

Wheels - Mavic ellipse Wheelset with Vittoria Zaffiro 23mm tyres. Both seen very little use

Cranks - Sugino 75 DD direct drive cranks 165mm. Spotless no rubbing or scratches

Cockpit - 3T 110mm stem with Titanium flat bars

Seat - Selle italia Slr , Titanium in line post

Price- Not too sure on pricing but I’d say £600 for the Gitane and £700 for the Van Tuyl as a start. Wouldn’t mind splitting as long as the majority of parts find a home. Also open to swaps for photography equipment ( Fujifilm, Leica, Voigtlander etc) or even mechanical watches, just let me know what you’ve got.

Sorry about the terrible pictures but if you’d like to see anything specific just let me know.

  • Nice builds.

Is that Van Tuyl really a titanium lugged carbon tubed frame? I may be wrong but it looks like alu to me.

  • Whilst I’ve never seen under the paint the elemental symbol Ti (titanium) and C (carbon) are present on the down tube just above the Van Tuyl logo and from searching up some other Van Tuyl frames without paint it seems the builder has made a few frames this way. Pics for reference

  • Yes I’m quite familiar with those ones. The only reason I ask is because I would have thought the junction between the carbon and titanium would have been noticeable under the paint.

Not trying to derail your for sale thread, just genuinely interested as it’s a pretty cool frame.

  • This is a pure alu frame. Ti may (just may) refer to rear dropout and C is probable due to fork being made of carbon - one you shown couple of pics above is a totally different beast. Mono stays at rear, clearly visible Ti lugs etc etc

    GLWS. Nice anyway.

  • Where are you based? Do like the Van Tuyl……

  • Dibs nitto 90 jag if splitting

  • Hi, based in Birmingham but I’m down in central London every other week for work so I can bring it along with me if needed.

  • Thought the van title looked cool then read the thread.

As mentioned above it’s 100% an alu frame and not carbon/ti

Looks cool but price is punchy, no doubt because of the misconception that it’s made out of more “exotic” materials

    GLWS

  • Dibs Sugino 75 DD if split... pending price.

  • Lovely bikes
