Please don’t. It will make my stupid questions more stupid if you do.

Bit of snooping tells me this is my plot to be!

Shed/greenhouse from the looks of it?

This is what I hope.. Fingers crossed.

Looks like a lot of turf to scalp off potentially?
We shaved 4” off our whole plot to tackle the grass, stacked all the sods to make a small bank/wall thingy.
Scalping with a mattock is easy and super satisfying once you’ve got the technique. -

Sounds like a job I will enjoy! My wife is now sitting watching YouTube videos of how to tend to a new allotment. :D

Very exciting!!! My advice is don't get involved in any allotment politics, sit back and watch instead.

This is my approach in life, I am not into that vibe, I'm a much better people-watcher.

Nice! I think our blueberries are at least two weeks away from edible
-

I intended to leave these a bit longer but they are falling off.

Is there a particular blueberry that’s better than others? We planted one years ago and it got swollowed by the raspberries and hasn’t been seen since.
But we eat them a lot so having a bush or 3 makes sense.

How do you stop the squirrels getting them?
-
• #4916
I would suggest netting, but the little fuckers just seem to see that as a challenge if our strawberries are anything to go by.
Two of them got caught in it, much to our dog's delight.

It’s the blackbird that decimates ours.
@Light_EDDed you need more than one bush for them to pollinate. I think they like ericaceous compost too. I’ve got three different varieties but they’re all pretty equal.

Netting from as soon as they are in flower.
Ericaceous compost .
Rain water only - not tap water.
My varieties are 'The Duke' - 'Bluecrop' - 'Liberty' and 'Pink Lemonade' .

Will have a look at my local gc tomorrow.

What are people putting in after potatoes? Have lifted a fair few earlies now so freed up some space.
Direct sow ideally as I’ve got nowt to plant out. -
• #4921
I’ve had most joy with lettuce but I transplanted seedlings rather than direct sow.
-
• #4922
Yes, lettuce is something I keep seeing recommended. We do our salad at home on the balcony though as less slug issues.
Brassicas seem to be another recommendation so maybe will start some kale. -

Radishes are quick & easy too. I tend to rotate to onions/leek/garlic after spuds so if you can get hold of some tiny Leeks from plot neighbours they'd grow on nicely

So when the plot rep showed me round the allotments, he gestured to the area and said thats your plot, 110a.
Turns out he actually was showing me the area in red which 110a had previously also been making use of and so now I also have the actual 110a area to look after.
Pros and cons to this.

I’m not understanding you message. You’re holder of 110a? The bit in red or the bit in red and 110a?
Why are they all different sizes?
One of the most interesting posts on here was from someone who’d moved their plot over to be mainly winter crops, avoiding the summer glut. Maybe not for everyone, but made me think.
Other than that, just give your soil organic matter, organic matter and more organic matter.
