  • They’ll get there in a time dependent...

... on Royal Mail getting their act together

  • More affordable dual sided SPD PM coming soon.

  • Any idea why my stages pm has stopped showing speed on my garmin? Calibrating as normal and power and cadence are showing as normal. Not sure if connected but have just started using a new turbo trainer. Speed shows on the garmin when connected to the turbo pm (wahoo kickr). Haven't changed any settings on the garmin as far as I'm aware.

  • Anyone have experience/opinion of Garmin Rally vs Favero Assioma single side power pedals? Seem to be very smiling, and just a case of Assioma's looking different but having rechargeable batteries?

  • Thinking of getting speedplay power meter pedals, after the first initial batch of issues have all the bugs been ironed out or should we stay away from them until gen 2 comes out?

  • I've no experience of the Faveros, but I've been very impressed by my Garmin Rally SPD pedals. During a week's mountain biking in Sweden last year they spent most of the time being smashed into rocks or submerged in water, and they never missed a beat. Nothing if not durable.

  • Send me to the golf club, but I have a pair of both the Garmin Rally and the Favero Assioma, but double sided.

The Assioma are new to me, but I prefer the rechargeable battery to the Rally cell batteries. The former also feel much more robust, but that is subjective.

One tip if you do go for the Assioma; order direct from Italy and they'll still be significantly (15-20%) cheaper even with import duty and handling fees than what UK retailers are asking.

  • Also interested to know the answer to this.

  • order direct from Italy

Maybe I should fill my bike box with some sets in August...

  • I'm waiting for Gen 2, more in the hope they integrate into the spindle

  • Are you starting a list?

  • Unfortunately I'm trying to get rid of stuff, not collect more shit.

But it's a good idea if you are on the continent.

  • Nice, any idea of eta?

  • Not sure if I'm aware of all the issues, but I sure know one that's irritating me quite a bit. I have a dual-sided one that drops off significantly a few mins into a ride (and no, it ain't the legs). Let's say I'm riding along at 200w, 10mins later it goes down to like 110w for the same effort. My best guess is that one of the pedals just stops transmitting, I pedalled single leg to test it and output drops to zero on one of them. If I stop the ride and calibrate the pedals, either through wahoo app or Garmin, it goes back to normal for a few mins again. Then it drops. Did this 4 times on my last ride until I just switched them off as it was pissing me off. Batteries were full, and no choice anywhere to update firmware. So I don't have a clue on how to solve it.

My hope now is to replace the malfunctioning one with a regular speedplay and have single-sided reading, I don't care about the double sided and only bought them because I found them reasonably priced second hand, fuck me if I'd ever want to pay full price. Your experience may vary, of course.

  • Was this recent or when it first came out?

What i read online is a lot of people use these indoors instead of outdoors which seems to defy the point of the pedal but it does seem to have less issues indoors.

  • I think it's fairly recent, I know for sure I used it last year without issues, but in the past 3 or 4 rides it started playing up. I changed shoes in this period, might be some interference issue I have to investigate. If I figure out anything I'll update.

  • Uninteresting update:

    1. The double sided speedplay won't work as a single side, it needs both.
    2. After unpairing and removing from my Garmin, followed by a fresh pairing, it worked fine. Now to see if ot stays like that.
  • Will have a quarq 5bolt 110bcd pm with carbon cranks for sale soon if anyone is interested - drop me a PM

  • My left vector 3 doesn't spin freely any more... is that likely to be a bearing replacement job or something else?

  • Actually I've never re-greased them so maybe that's it
