My wife's opinion is fairly aligned with that article and she's been going to Pitti as a buyer for twenty years now. It's morphed into a social event and the trade show has priced out the small vendors.
I think I need to stop looking at Instagram because I went out with some old mates at the weekend dressed in what only can be described as Preppy Cholo and she made me apologise to them afterwards for having to be seen with me.

No chance but I'll paint an image for you - blue linen shirt and shorts, long oatmeal socks and furry Paraboots. I probably could've got away with it darrn sarrf but we were in Derby city centre having our yearly darts outing in a rough old pool hall. Having a mate's blue Staffy with us was the proverbial cholo cherry on the cake.

I really love these, got two pairs. They come way long, and you can either roll them up or get them hemmed to the length you need: https://www.carriercompany.co.uk/collections/mens/products/mens-work-trouser-1

I'm sure there is a Pitti x cholo x Derby x darts private insta that you are too modest to share...

I thought so too. My wife's words were "Have you had a fucking stroke? Do I need to start dressing you now?"

You can't have her, imagine how rogue I would go without her as my conscience...

Yeah look I like a strong look as much as the next but that sounds a bit much even for london's famous london. Let alone derby!

Have looked at Carrier trousers before - curious, what is the thigh and hem measurement? I would likely be a small in those.

Opinions on (machine?) washing linen to make it shrink?
I lost quite a bit of weight (>>>weight loss thread) and a pair of my favourite pants (hundhund, can recommend the trousers) is now a size too big.
They're roomy in all dimensions so hoped by washing I could reduce those a bit. Or is the risk too big?
Have the same trousers in wool; more hesitant to go that route in that material.Getting it tailored is still an option of course, but doing that well is £££ and just having the rear seam taken in messes with optics of these beautiful pants.

Just get them tailored. They won't shrink the same way in all dimensions because of the way the fabric is woven (I made this up but it sounds true)

Ah, no sure, but their customer service is absolutely on point, real humans answering emails personally and happy to go above and beyond, so definitely recommend dropping them a line with any questions.

This needs a snide sub thread to quote it in, but none of the many threads of that genre fit

Normal good quality T-shirts, where to buy? I have a mountain of faded ill-fitting rags of which I regularly wear probably four, so it is time to dump and restock. Happy to pay a few quid if they are of robust quality. Plain or sensible pattern, nothing jazzy thanks.

these are my current favourites - https://www.blacksmith-store.com/products/lifewear-usa-7oz-pocket-t-shirt-ash-grey
might be a bit on the 'heavy' side. for lighter tees have found the mid-weight arket ones to be decent and fairly priced

Rapanui
Very good quality, ethical, bundle buy 7 for £50, you can return (any) old t shirts and they will give you a discount code and recycle them, don't fade, would recommend. -

I fcking love this forum, blacksmith and rapanui both look great, thanks!

Human Made bundle deal on end is about £37 for three right now (M and L only)
So it’s only influencers, no buyers so no one is interested in showing.
