I just had a pair of linen trousers tapered and hemmed, plus the jacket cuffs shortened for £60, so depending on how invested you are in them I don't think it's unreasonable. Alternatively just sell them and buy the next size down if they're available.

Opinions on (machine?) washing linen to make it shrink?
I lost quite a bit of weight (>>>weight loss thread) and a pair of my favourite pants (hundhund, can recommend the trousers) is now a size too big.
They're roomy in all dimensions so hoped by washing I could reduce those a bit. Or is the risk too big?
Have the same trousers in wool; more hesitant to go that route in that material.
Getting it tailored is still an option of course, but doing that well is £££ and just having the rear seam taken in messes with optics of these beautiful pants.
