I think it was made the same year as another S E. Hinton adaption.
It does not compare well to Rumble Fish. -
I loved it at the time, have been meaning to rewatch it (and Rumblefish!). Regular double bill for me and my mates as young 'uns.

...And Rob Lowe, Ralph Macchio, C Thomas Howell... Crazy amount of 'stars' in it. Plus Tom Cruise was still 'pre major dental work'. 😁

I thought I'd keep the Francis Ford Coppola ball rolling and watched The Outsiders. Hard to believe it's the same director as The Godfather, Apocalypse Now and The Conversation. What a stinker! A handful of great shots peppered in to some really wooden dialogue and performances and general amateurish feel. It was fun seeing Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez and Matt Dillon when they were so young though I suppose.
