Different league entirely but similarly I replaced our Opinel Kitchen knives with the plastic handle versions to save my frustration at finding the wooden handled ones left soaking in the washing up bowl.
I once found the (then) missing peeler from the same set in the garden compost bin.
I was gifted a Niwaki that is stored elsewhere.
I will not buy better knives that need any level of care.
