Just watching the highlights of Question Time from last night. The guy that asked Sunak about the betting scandal had so much pure hatred in his voice. You love to see it.

Maybe his data says Clacton is full of Putin and Tate fans?

I've not seen the most recent one

"Could you become prime minister off the back of the dullest campaign ever?"
A media question to Starmer today.

Post on a right leaning forum in response to the question “do people think that the right will start to push for PR post election?”
“I don't think there will need to be as labour moving further left will do it for them, I give starmer half a term before the stooge is ousted having served his purpose 😉”
Struggling a bit here- is the theory that Starmer will (somehow) step aside for Corbyn and undiluted communism? Something else?

I've always thought one of the big diffrences between Labour and the tories is how they treat their leaders. Labour simply dosen't plot and remove in that sort of a way.
Corbyn had to loose twice before being ousted. Miliband did 5 years and an election defeat. Brown got his election, Blair had over 10 years as PM. John Smith died. Neil Kinnock lost two as well. Foot lost to a landslide, Wilson retired.
There isn't a history, other than Blair for Labour leaders to be changed mid term. Wishful thinking on the part of the right.

Blair stood down at a time of his choosing as well, although I think there was pressure from Brown to hand over the reigns.

Some "pressure" yes

Oh, it’ll be batshit conspiracy theory level stuff I have no doubt - just wondering what it would be.

I don’t see what all this chat about starmer being dull is about. I don’t care if he’s interesting or captivating as long as he can make life better for people.

You can't move for "Vote Ellie Chowns" signs over in Ledders. It's always been a bit of an island in the blue sea of Herefordshire, but there's definitely momentum.

Seeing loads of Green placards in Kent, a few Lib Dems. Haven't seen a single Con/Lab one. Pamphlets from Green/Con/LD/Reform, nothing from Lab.
Guessing Tories don't think they have to try in Kent, Labour have other priorities.

Maybe Rayner? Remember when the Tories claimed she was delibrately undermining Johnson's PMQ performance by being a woman and wearing a skirt.

My dad, who in his old age and with the advent of technology has switched from working class labour to die hard Tory, spouted this exact theory; Starmer is just a puppet to get Corbyn back in.
Just bonkers.

• #2092
there was pressure from Brown
Didn't Brown pretty much Yosser Hughes him until Blair stepped aside?
-
• #2093
I emailed the labour candidate to ask when he will campaign. Lots of "I've got a full time job" guff and blamed the lack of leaflets on royal mail delivery.
There's a hustings at Tonbridge Baptist Church on 1st July 7.30pm with all 7 candidates. Questions can be pre sent, nothing on the night.
More and more tempted to go green irrespective of the stopthetory.vote recommendation.

We need to get the message out in North Herefordshire, Wiggin, your days are numbered

Well, they are meant to have had an agreement that Brown would support Blair in the leadership contest after John Smith died, but that Blair would then step aside at a to be determined date, and support Brown's bid to be leader.

There’s a few polls doing the rounds showing a possibility that the Lib Dems could be the official opposition. That sounds fantastic to me, hopefully pulling Labour in a more progressive direction, and making the Tories an irrelevance.
I do wonder how the press will behave if that happens though. Can’t really imagine them giving Lib Dems the same space in news coverage that the current two main parties get. I’d imagine it’d take quite an ideological adjustment…

I love how the Guardian editors always choose the pics of Faux-rage looking like a creation from the Jim Henson workshop.

It's probably totally biased and not backed up by any data, but by a long way the most signs I have seen outside properties in London is Lib dem signs, so that kind of makes sense.
When I have been outside London recently though, seems to be a lot more Labour signs. Probably just a bit of a bubble in London.

I'm not keeping my hopes up but it'd certainly be an interesting prospect. Mostly though, I just can't see the press changing much even if the Westminster party balance changes drastically.
You'd think having a Lib Dem opposition and a decimated Tory party both looking at, say, proportional representation could mean some serious changes in perspective, I just can't really imagine that happening.
It's no bad thing. Farage is just putting more lead weights around his waist before going swimming.
