House/dog sitters. What experiences have people had with the various online services?
We're looking at trusted housesitters and house sitters uk -

Can’t go wrong with trusted housesitters. We’ve been using it for the past year. Managed to find a stable house sitter who looks after our sprocket, 2 cats and 6 chickens

Dog taking themselves into their crate at night when tired : achieved.

my OH used to work for Trusted Housesitters, and we've used it a bunch as sitters. Genuinely really good, excellent mitigation of any potential issues

Here's Lützi, truly the best companion. We had her from a puppy and she's about 4 1/2 now. She loves riding in the bike basket which is a true blessing. She's a full on mix of everything.

They like standing in a refreshing creek though.

I think the fact she rides in the bike helps with her understanding what it feels like to be in something wobbly, and that she is not allowed to jump out. She likes to swim so that probably helps too.

Oh wow these two are beautiful! I've never seen dogs like these before. Are they a particular breed?

Lol yeah total opposite. Mine don't like being submerged in water and they absolutely hated it when I bought a trailer. They very much like the car...
Both street dogs so take their DNA results with a grain of salt: big ears is 1/2 beagle, 1/2 chihuahua - which I fully believe. Has strong breed characteristics from both of them. Small ears is supposedly 1/3 chihuahua, 1/3 miniature pinscher and 1/3 dachsund. But honestly I kind of believe that too. If you see a tan minpin they look quite like him. And he loves to dig and sniff like a dachsund... Not related though - just the same colour.

Can believe those DNA tests from the way they look in your photos. Really cool combination of breeds.
We did a DNA test for Lützi and the first 4 are totally spot on, at least in her looks and mannerisms/habits.

Cool mix! Alpine Alpine Dachsbracke is not something I've heard of before. Super super cute.

I’d love to get a DNA test for Dolly. We rescued her from a puppy farm, I think she had 2 litters and is a Jackabee. Their traits are being clown like and are prone to narcolepsy! Sounds about right.

What a cutie! Crumpet would have that canoe capsized before we'd even left the bank.

Crumpet's sister had a DNA test done. I'm glad we didn't spend £80 to be told "there's loads of stuff in there".

Once I heard you could get DNA tests it was all I could think about. All we knew for sure was that she had some German Shepherd in her. I somehow find it so interesting.

Its so worth it. If you can afford the 75 quid I wouldn't hesitate.
We used this one - granted in the U.S. - and the whole process was fun.

Cheers (and @skullandbiscuits) that’s who’ve we’ve landed on using. I like how much checking/review there is on sitters and it just seems pretty comprehensive. Just waiting for my listing to be reviewed, then I expect I’ll be inundated with requests! :-)

Wow DNA tests for your dog? What a time to be alive. Lützi looks amazing btw, everyone should have a friend like that 🫶

We had our Sally DNA tested - she was a street dog from China. Test said mostly Belgian shepherd and border collie and she looks exactly like that - front half shepherd, back half collie. I can't use image-sharing sites, but if you can imagine the most beautiful dog in the world, you're about halfway there.
Hilda the Bernese! The owners have a
2 of these.
