  • There used to be a better quiz that asked your opinion on a bunch of policies and then checked how they matched with each of the main party's policies. You'd get a result of "78% Green, 67% Labour, 24% Conservative, 18% etc..."

Not sure if it has been updated with the latest manifestos, I'm sure it's a hell of a lot of work to get it all updated.

  • I managed to get quite far top right by answering the opposite to the way I truthfully answered for myself.

    Sure sure.

"I was taking the quiz for my mate..."

  • ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name

  • You got me into Brave initially.

    Well, he is quite pretty.

  • Isn't authoritarian basically the state control and pays for everything setup?

Where the centrist dad's at? (Would consider myself one in all honesty)

  • this got me thinking that outside of electoral politics there’s very rarely single issues, or to put it another way, it is sad that in electoral politics - with its apparent need to appeal to people with a menu of popular policies- single issues can emerge like this. outside of electoral politics the US civil rights movement needed the communist party’s support at a time it could have legitimately said it represented the US proletariat; modern disability studies relies heavily on alignment with gay rights activism and queer theory; environmentalism and indigenous rights; BLM and the movement to boycott and divest from companies supporting Israeli apartheid, all these have become deeply connected. Then big parties swoop down and say ‘we like you but your friend is too risky’. However, these forms of solidarity do mean that if one of your friends has an influence a wider culture of acceptance has a greater chance of developing. Or, put it another way, I’d rather be before a liberal judge for my perceived crimes than a conservative one, even if the laws are the same.

  • Nope, the vertical axis is mostly freedom in social terms (not economic). From Wiki:

Authoritarianism is a political system characterized by the rejection of political plurality, the use of strong central power to preserve the political status quo, and reductions in democracy, separation of powers, and the rule of law.

The claim that Labour's 2024 manifesto represents a 4.5/10 on the authoritarian scale is dubious to be honest (Labour's dot on the map is a little too high and to the right in my opinion, but most certainly in the right quadrant).

(And like @Soul said above, the questions are mostly without real constraints, so it's easy to select nice ideas).

  • "Hello Nigel, this is Mone candidate vetting services..."

  • Same.
I think of myself as centre left. I am not a socialist in the true sense of the word.

  • Yes Tories, bring out the Bozza, that will definitely turn the tide

Hearing they’ve u-turned on that as well and have sent him on holiday until the 3rd

Yup. Steven Swinford in the Times.

Some of the other quotes in there are interesting… Andrea Jenkyns doubling down in the replies is hilarious too.

  • Are you on the right forum?

  • Some of them are quite tough to answer in the 4 multiple choice format.

Those who are able to work, and refuse the opportunity, should not expect society’s support.

What does refuse an opportunity mean? Any support?

A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system.

Ummm... well yeah that is a significant advantage. See the classic eg of the DR's ecology policies. Is it enough of a advantage to outweigh the negatives?

  • For me the true tell about what bullshit it is, is that almost none of the left wing policies in the forums circle jerk happen without a degree of authoritarianism.

That no one has yet posted a dot above the vertical is unrealistic.

  • Thought I'd be more central on economics. Would be really interesting to see the stats they are collecting

There's some strong selection bias going on here though.

Someone should post this on truth social

  • almost none of the left wing policies in the forums circle jerk happen without a degree of authoritarianism

I can’t tell if you’re being serious here, or if you’re including yourself, but which policies did you have in mind?

  • Cometh the hour:

  • The problem with the "hold your nose and vote labour to get the tories out" argument is that the labour party itself doesn't believe that, otherwise it would withdraw candidates from constituencies in which another party could unseat a Tory. Instead, they're running in places like Islington North and Brighton Pavilion and splitting the non-tory vote.

  • Hearing they’ve u-turned on that as well and have sent him on holiday until the 3rd

‘on holiday’ as opposed to what’s he been doing for the last few years? And for much of the time he was in office?

  • Decimation?

    I wonder what that means....

  • Where I live you have to pay £65,000 to register a cheap/small car for 10 years. There are approximately five residents per motor vehicle, and (compared to other large cities) congestion is vanishingly tiny.

It’s an authoritarian, quasi-democracy with de facto single party rule baked into the constitution (which also has roles defined by race, for all racism fans).
