Bit of a cross post from the project thread but my little RD is back together and running. Ported 350 barrels, 350 clutch and oil pump, 250 heads recut to suit, new pipes, Reed spacers. FZR600 disc and r6 caliper conversion. Should be about low 50’s HP now - certainly feels brisk from a quick Outing yesterday eve. I'll get around to fitting the new swing arm soon too.

Amaaaaazing stuff. That exhaust is looking proper tidy.
Looks proper fresh for the age, is the kick start still working? -

I use modern full synthetic, currently Motul 710 but I've got some Klotz Techniplate to go in next as I couldn't get more Motul in time. It's way better, lower carbon deposits and higher flash point. No reason to use straight mineral oil, though synthetic blends are fine for most applications I think.
I use Maxima 927 for anything pre-mix which is mostly castor based. Just because I like the smell - its great for HARD use, but a bit dirty / spoogy for general pootling.
@chak - Kick start is all good...starts very easily, it's almost certainly rich on the pilots.

Met them on the lanes today. They were doing a few weeks on the TET, either side of ABR later this month.
I’d left the house to get an hour on the lanes just to stretch my legs, saw these two riding little VanVan 125’s so caught up with them and joined them for 50 miles or so on the lanes.
We ended up at Fosse Way and doing the water crossing. Amazing they both managed it unscathed considering how much luggage they had on the little bikes.

Just found out that my stolen K11RS was abandoned, then recovered by the council. It's been in their pound since May 19th!
Here's a pic for nostalgia purposes. It really did look this good until I got my mitts on it. Will give it a cosmetic refresh and probably sell it. Mileage is 3 thousand and something. Maybe someone here will add it to their collection of historic Beemers?

Lovely bikes, had one at work, comfortable and nippy enough.

Are you in the same profession as Monsieur Savage?
-
• #25735
Similar but not quite, I used to be a surveillance officer with the covert bit of Customs (wholesale heroin traffiking proactive team - Green Lanes and about, nothing under 10kgs please) and was a biker on the team as well

A K11 doesn't seem like the most covert choice. Police vibes.

Not really, black motorbike, no panniers, scruffy rider and the bike isn’t right in their face - that’s not its role. The rs was never used an overt police bike in London either , iirc.
Don't recall ever showing out on it and we’d have known if I had.
Mind you one team, out in the sticks, tried to get a K1 and got told to forget it so there were limits.

Oh wow. So they are torque monsters then?
-
• #25739
Not particularly! What gave you that idea?
-
• #25740
Just looking at the specs, big capacity but not massive hp. Looks like it has all the Nm on paper.
-
• #25741
It's a bit lacking in torque now - Lambeth Pound sent it to the crusher

• #25742
Oh no!!

Lavi @ Ollie graciously sent me the raw video footage of the river crossing.
I’ll leave their crossing for their video release, but I grabbed a frame out of it for my own vanity…

Dear all, whilst I don't post much these days on our beloved forum - I'm more motorcycle focused these days as some of you may already know.
I'm a DAS instructor for Phoenix in Crystal Palace SE London, but on the side I'm also an instructor for VC London, a women's motorcycle collective devoted to getting more women on bikes.
So with that in mind I'd like to do a shameless plug for VC Moto school which is run by myself and fellow forumite @Charlotte
We do beginners sessions for women interested in riding motorcycles, currently we're running monthly weekend sessions from our space in East London (Silvertown). If you are a (moto) bike curious female or know any female friends that might be, please send them our way. We have spots available on our 13-14th July sessions and will be running another session in August and September this year.

Any questions, hit me up!

Hmm. Reckon my partner would be well up for this. August though. What’s the session like?

Could not get my Yamaha running right in time for the ride, so ended up borrowing my mate’s 68 TR6C. First time riding one and it was an absolute sweetheart. A really charming, fun motorcycle, that you can’t help but feel like Steve McQueen on.
110f where this photo was taken. Phew….

Did a really stupid thing. Stopped at lights and pulled my phone out of my top pocket to check the time. Pulled over and told it would be up to 6 points and £200 fine. As I’m on a CBT does that basically mean game over? I know I’m the idiot here.

This is incredibly cool, I've followed VC on IG for a while now and always been so envious of the incredible community ye're building over there.
Keep up the excellent work! -

Oh wow, that seems like incredibly heavy handed policing...

It would be a difficult one but how long was the phone in your hand for?
The law is about ‘using’ the phone while operating a vehicle. If you already admitted to ‘using’ it you’re stuffed. But, if you didn’t and you could argue you were not using it but checking its presence, or some other excuse, that is Mr Loophole territory.
You shouldn’t be using your phone while operating a vehicle.
Got a few minutes play today, refreshing myself on basics. (Long distance tank on trials bike)
