    Edit. Charging long term is a choice of the school. I'm simply arguing that if a school chooses to offer 1 term to 5 years payment up front that's a choice and they live with it. Any tax due will be paid at point of payment not down the line as the service has been paid for.

    If you pay a builder to do work up front and the tax levels change before he does the work you don't pay extra.

    Schools aren't offering that. They reserve the right to increase their fees and then more top ups will be required.

    Apparently, I don't send my kids to private school but that is what the tax website thing linked up thread says.

    Do builders offer fixed prices on 5 year long projects?

  • I've not read the details of any of these school offerings so going with what makes sense.

    I've had to book a builder 2 years in advance before, price for his labour was paid for and fixed. Not tried 5 year project.
