Think Pep would disagree with you there, indeed he's often criticised for being too rigid, especially with players like Grealish. The apparent fluidity is a result of the relationships between players which is hard to replicate in international football, but it's always defined by the defined positions the set players take up.
He's played 88 games for City on the left. He's not out of position he's just not getting into the half space enough because Trippier is easier to cover on the overlap.
