I was in Portugal for Euro 2004 and WC 2006 in Germany, not following England however, saw all of Italy's group games at both tournaments (gf at the time is Italian and it's so much easier to get tickets for Italy).

Had a great time at the games as well as at fan parks and generally around the host cities. Watching Germany play on a big screen at the Brandeberg Gate was epic. Definitely think i enjoyed it more but not being with the main group of England fans.

We went to Cologne in 2006. The bad ones, of which there were quite a few, were intimidating to locals and just as shitty to other England fans. Kept out of their way.
