Have a search on eBay/AliExpress for aluminium G hooks, much better than plastic buckles!

Did you just cut the buckles off and use the holes left that held the buckles?

Yes, exactly that - same on the side pockets, just need the correct size g hooks, I think 20 and 25mm. Won't work on the leather strappped bags, but on the Super C, etc, its great!
