• Up for sale is this rather uncommon Rikulau 853 frame set that I built up for my partner with 11 speed Campagnolo Athena and alloy rims. You can read more about the company here.

It take a 27.2cm seatpost and the BB is standard BSA threaded. All threads are good.

The seat tube measures 50cm c-t and the effective top tube I measure at 52cm c-c. My partner is ~164cm and the frame fit her well though there is obviously a lot of wiggle room with different setback seatposts, seatpost heights, stem angles and stem lengths.

Despite me having built this up about three years ago it’s been barely ridden in that time and as my partner isn’t particularly taken by road cycling I have recently got her something more suitable for the off road trails we have access to so am looking to move this frame on.

It’s a lovely frame and despite the paint having a number of chips it’s not without a certain charm. Rikulau certainly leaned quite heavily on the Mondrian aesthetic beloved by Look and no doubt ruffled some French feathers in doing so.

The main three triangles are constructed from Reynolds 853 though the fork is Easton EA70. It’s remarkably light (obviously helped by its size) and is a very nimble frame to ride, with tight clearances and a lively geometry.

A couple of things to note, the paint has quite a few chips and rubs from mudguards and whatnot and one of the bottle cage bolts has snapped off and will need drilling out - an easy job with the right tools and I’m sure any bike shop would do it for a few quid. Another thing to mention is that the fork steerer is not perfectly cut, this is how it came to me. Given the fact that it’s metal I was less concerned by this than were it carbon and didn’t do anything to clean it up as it obviously didn’t impact functionality at all and was covered by a spacer before meeting the top cap. Again it’s a five minute job with a hacksaw and clamp, I’m happy to do this if it’s a deal breaker as I have a fork cutting guide here and a hacksaw to do it with.

This could either be built up as is or could make a great frame for either a home or professional respray project. I’m after £85 plus postage as I’m in Cornwall. Any messages please dm and I’m happy to send lots more photos via dm or WhatsApp.
