It's 2.5 turns from inserted to "that'll do" which sounds like not enough according to @chiroshi and feels/looks like not enough according to me.
That's either bad spec by Mason, or your hub OLN is wider than it should be. As we're talking bike engineering, you will never reach the ideals that Grumpy Git is talking about but 5mm engagement on a 12mm axle is not a lot.
It's not like the hub is pushing the frame wider - it fits as it should. I think the axle is too short.
