Distilled water drop of soap and maybe 20% IPA.
I've seen what lurks in those pipes, wouldn't been keen to introduce a bit of suspended particulates onto my records.
I'm not really getting any fluff from the micro fiber. Might give the pad a go actually. I think it's just that these records haven't been played for 20+ years (possibly 30) and there's just a bit of fungus build up in the grooves.
I've managed to get this Dinosaur Jr record to play the whole way through now without getting gunked up. Amen.

Feeling pretty chuffed with this mini haul from the local flea market this morning at £3:a record.
And to round off a lovely morning also picked up a cool Osibisa poster just before bumping into the forums own @General_Lucifer at his stall. Lovely to chat to your sir and I'll put a picture of both the poster and the fantastic puffer fish print I bought from you in the reprographics thread or the artists one. Top man 😀.

People who don't read their emails really shouldn't do Discogs.
Bought item for £25 on 19/04 then chased it on 27/04 and got a "family emergency, been in Devon posting it tomorrow" bullshit answer.
01/05 Chased again as still not sent. Reported guy to Discogs for non-communication.
07/05 Discogs tell me he has been suspended and I should seek refund from Paypal. This morning I get a message the item was shipped yesterday, but he didn't actually mark it as shipped yesterday so I also now have my £25 refund from Paypal that I requested yesterday and this guy appears to be oblivious to the fact.

I popped into a strange little record shop we have here for the first time the other day. Mostly overpriced or wrecked garbage for tourists but I found TWO mono copies of Rolling Stones No.2 , which amazed me, I've been after a decent copy since I was a teenager. Anyway, one was fucked but the other looked okay and it was half price (A$43!) so I took a gamble, the bloke said he'd give me double my money back if it didn't play.
Excitedly took it home and slapped it straight on the turntable, it skipped halfway through the first chorus on track one side one. Sooooo disappointing.
Took it back, I didn't ask for double my money back but was refunded without any questions asked. Someone please grab me a UK copy, I'll pick it up next time I'm in London.

Anyone using a record weight (for listening rather than DJing)? Do they make a difference? I'm thinking of a nice one for a birthday gift but trying to decide if I'd use one myself or not

I've got a really nice one by Varia Instruments which wasn't cheap, but it's made just down the road from where my mother-in-law lives in Switzerland so I couldn't resist.
It's really heavy so does a great job at flattening slightly warped older records - and just looks fucking cool too. I could live without it but I don't want to. Hope that helps! -

What’s the best way of straightening warped records. I’m about to take on a stack of LPs but they’ve been stored upright in a cardboard box so all the end ones are banana shaped. Turn them all round and store them for a while facing the other way in the same box?
Also, posted this in the hifi thread but didn’t get a response. This item was in the box with my record player. I assume it’s some kind of cleaning brush and looks like it’s weighted or counterbalanced. Where does it go / how do I use it?

Don’t know about correcting warped and dished records. The one I always see is putting between two sheets of glass somewhere warm - which seems logical but am sure is highly damaging.
There are specialist machines that claim to do it - https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/cd-vinyl-maintenance/orb-df-01i-a-disc-flattener - and you’ll encounter businesses that will offer it as a service with a flat rate per Xn records.
That device is interesting. Looks like it has a reservoir and cleaning fluid runs through the head. The reservoir section looks like it would fit into the recess for the 7” adaptor on a 1210, although that wouldn’t be much good considering how the arm is oriented.

I spent years guffawing at Mastersounds ones and then I saw someone using the knurled grip on the top to micro adjust record speed while mixing with tiny rubs and pushes and I 'got' it.
Also handy for unruly dished vinyl and to my thrashed eardrums seems to make the bottom end of everything a bit more solid. -

Ah good to know that's the one I was looking at!

Speaking of Mastersounds, appears they’re giving up the mixer game. Wonder why? I’ve got a radius two and it’s fucking lovely

Was in a record store last week in Huntingdon Beach, CA and they just had a collection dropped off which has some serious tunes in there. Picked up around 20 records.
