Cycle scheme allow up to £10k I believe. My wife just got a pretty spectacular emtb with some upgrades and a spare chains and brake pads without hitting the maximum. Given the saving made it still worked out much cheaper than buying a lower spec 2nd hand model of the same bike which had only done 175miles and upgrading it.

The limit used to be based on whether the employer had a Consumer Credit License (CCL).
Years ago, without a separate CCL, the limit defaulted to £1000. At the time my employer had a CCL for much higher as they used sell expensive IT equipment and offered finance on it, and so our cycle2work limit was >£4k. I bought a crabon Wilier in the sales for £££.
Seems it's roughly similar now: https://www.cyclescheme.co.uk/cycle-to-work-scheme-any-price
If they're using that scheme, for instance, there's no limit as you're hiring the bike from Cyclescheme (rather than your employer) and Cyclescheme don't have a limit (I suspect there is a limit but it's just beyond what anyone would end up spending on a bike+stuff).
Without anything special companies may still be limited to £1k.

I asked this in AQA, but I’ll also ask here…
Has anyone bought a bike/frame on C2W, and sold it within the [extended] rental period?
I have a bike here, paid off a year ago, and I'm now into the extended 60months of rental after which the bike will be mine for fair market value i.e. £0.00.
I'm looking to move the groupset, wheels, finishing kit to another frame, and ideally I would make space by selling the frame.
Strictly speaking, I shouldn't do that, but I can't envisage a scenario where it would ever come to light that's what I'd done.
I am buying the next frame on C2W, btw; it's a fantastic initiative. This bike was effectively half price!

I sold a frame I bought on cycle2work to someone on here well before the end of the 60 month rental period and, so far, I've not been sent to jail for it.

Good to know. Please let me know if that changes (maybe with your one phone call?).

So 3 years later, my employer has woken up and delivered a cycle scheme.
A 3k limit. Let me be clear I lobbied for more, but this is a win.It is the Halfords scheme. This allows purchases through Halfords (not going to happen) or Tredz (possible) and some independent stores ([[(https://www.halfords.com/cycling/expert-advice/cycle2work.html)]]
If all this is just an Halfords skin on the C2W application form, I can live with it. My question for the collective has anyone else had a similar restriction and managed to purchase via Tredz or another preferred retailer (in my case that is likely to be Balfes) successfully?

A lot of LBS will take the halfords voucher. They just won't like it. Halfords charge the shop a hefty fee (when I was in shops it was 15%).

I got an All city Nature Boy from the Halfords C2W scheme 5 / 6 years ago that was via tredz, it arrived at a Halford's store and they insisted on putting it together, no problems as far as I can remember.

You’re not going to grass me up are you?

I'm sure we can come to some arrangement...

Useful to know, thanks.

My employer offers C2W thru Halfords scheme, have used it several times always with independents and never had any bother, has a 4% discount on the voucher with max voucher value of 3.5K. The only interaction I had with Halfords was that they emailed me the voucher, and then after I had placed the order with the independent retailer they followed up with me to confirm I had received the goods from the retailer. Always been hassle free. The retailer I have used (Ribble the last couple of times) had no concerns about accepting Halfords voucher, it is just an option to select during checkout. Managed to combine it with a 20% discount code at Ribble earlier this year and used the savings to also put a garmin 1040 solar in the basket to replace my 10 year old garmin (which was nice)

Tried to search but couldn't find:
Does anyone know if you can buy second hand via Cycle 2 Work? And if you can, are there any bike shops that support that? -

https://www.cycleexchange.co.uk/
(Never bought from them, just know they do it, still quite spenny tho)

I feel like I should know this as I worked in bike shops for 10 years....but
You aren't allowed to have two schemes at once, acording to cyclscheme themselves.
But is there anything to stop me having two from different providers? I've currently got one with GCI.
Can I do another on CYCLESCHEME?
I know it will come down to what my HR say, but as with anything like that. It's best if you just tell them it's allowed ans don't give them an option to say no

I doubt this would fly, it is really up to them how the administer it and whether the second scheme would take them over their self-imposed limits...but to convince them show them para 4.14 of this:
You can hire two cycles to one employee if, for example, a cycle is
used at either end of a train journey between home and place of workJust don't show them the rest of the para which is from no doubt outdated 2019 guidance but is actually the guidance still linked on the HMRC site

Looking for some advice, being given the run around by Dolan on a bike I ordered on C2W July 8th with what was a 20 working day lead time > 30 working days > We don't know when we may have a frame from the factory.
They've given me a loaner in the interim which I must admit I thought was quite good customer service but that was over a month ago and zero comms that I haven't pestered them for.
Not looking to go down this route but I wondered if anyone had had any issues akin to this with supply chain shite leading to cancellation? Plus side is I've paid off 3/12 payments already but not the experience I was hoping for.
EDIT: just heard back from them via email, now looking at November.

• #598
Doesn't sound ideal! Not sure what the technically right answer is, I guess Dolan maybe shouldn't have 'cashed' the voucher/your deductions shouldn't have started until they were in a position to supply your bike?
Do you actually want to cancel and get a new voucher/buy a bike from elsewhere? How good is the loaner bike?
-
• #599
Yeah not ideal is about it. I don't particularly want to cancel the order, doubt I'd get that much for my money elsewhere. The loaner is the alu version (GXA) or the carbon one ordered (GXC) so I mean it's a close as it could be which is great.
I'll try and get someone on the phone later today and see what else they can do. I mean ideally a 2nd wheel set or just a cassette wouldn't cost them much and certainly make the situation a bit better.
I think the root of my post here was my concern as this delay could persist indefinitely and leave me in a position where I at least have a bike, but not the one I'm paying for.

As you state you have not pestered them, my best advice would be to start pestering them. At least to get some clarity around the situation and what your expectations should be, then hold them to whatever commitments they are able to make around due dates with continued pestering running up to those dates. Trying to back out of these things is probably difficult due to the more complex nature of the arrangements and the parties involved, but not something I have ever tried to do. I had a similar situation with multi-month delays on a C2W during covid supply chain disruption period, and just waited it out (as I didn’t really need the bike as such) although I was obviously not happy to be having deductions from pay each month with nothing to show for it
What would you get though? Bike not kitchen
