  • Ulrich not sounding like he would be back next year. Says he would prefer to do different route, Baja Divide or SRMR or something.

  • Well, he wasn't wrong at the time.

Ulrich going for the Triple Crown Record this year.

Tour Divide, Colorado Trail Race, and Arizona Trail Race, to be completed in under 27 days, 18 hours, and 33 minutes.

"𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 - 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗲?
In 2023, the Tour Divide was my main goal. In 2024, it's just one piece of the Triple Crown Challenge puzzle: Tour Divide, Colorado Trail, Arizona Trail. All 3 Grand Departs, all 3 in 1 year. This year, my motivation is bigger - it's not just about finishing the Tour Divide, but conquering so much more!

𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 - 𝗺𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀?
To have fun and enjoy the ride. To reach Antelope Wells in good health and earn the first crown on my helmet. But let's be honest: I'm also here for "Mission Title Defense." It's never easy - I know the competition will be fierce from kilometer 1 to the finish line. But I thrive on challenges. And hell yes, I want to be faster than last year!

When I think about Mike Hall's route record, my perspective has changed. Completing the Divide has made me grow, and strengthened my humility and respect. I no longer aim to break Mike Hall's 2016 record of 13 days, 22 hours, and 51 minutes. His run is an eternal inspiration and monument. Period.

But the route has changed since 2016, also with new sections from the Continental Divide Trail added this year. Instead of breaking old records, I'm focused on setting and earning a new one! New route, new fastest known time. This is my goal. Period.

And yes, I know better than ever: Only 20% is what I want, 80% is what the trail allows me to do. I have great respect and admiration for the route and aim to do my thing in the best spirits I can. "
