You don't want to sew dirty wounds up as they need to be open to push dirty out and clean. Better to be able to clean it.
Can't you book nurse appointment? Annoying.

• #403
Is the phrase 'see a flap, stitch it back' not a real thing then?
Can't book - walk in only. It's definitely dead tissue so we're going to pack a load of snacks and books and set off shortly. That or I take my new stanley blade to it but feel that'd probably end with me on some kind of list.
His knees are such a fucking state. Proper bad dad vibes.

Ah maybe it's not that dirty then. Maybe they try to avoid stitching a child as it's painful. Having had a fair number of staples and stitches it isn't nice.

I had my head glued together when I was about 11 (someone stamped on my head playing rugby) and that was a piece of piss. Good scar but no pain and plenty of flex / healed up quickly etc.

They sent him home and said "it'll probably shrivel up and drop off of its own accord" and "don't worry about the smell".

All kids knees are a state. Or should be!
Glad the outcome was good, but sorry about the smell. XD

My knees were raw or scabbed for about 99% of my childhood. I doubt my dad even noticed half the time.

Thanks both, yep, my knees were a state growing up but his seem very noticeable compared to his scar-free-friends. At least he hasn't copied my Terminator period yet when I, waiting for my mum to finish chatting at pick up, was walking backwards along a concrete curb and fell, scuffing an entire side of my face a la Arnie. Bled profusely and had a good few weeks of bubbling scabs. I vividly remember the mix of horror and 'oh for fucks sake' on my mums face when I walked over to her covered in blood.

Sat down too hard the other day and felt a jolt go up my back and various crackly noises and pain in my neck/base of skull. Was sore immediately but next day I woke up unable to turn my head and, perhaps more annoyingly, unable to hear clearly. It's like I'm a vacuumed air craft hangar. I can hear everything (even highs and lows I wouldn't usually be able to hear) but it's all muffled and echoey. My balance is also fucked and I'm wobbling around like I've had 6 cans for breakfast. Amputate?

Vertigo?
I had it and was fucked - couldn’t even stand up for about five days. Sixth day I woke up and was fine.
Mine was an inner ear infection.
Your sounds like something in your fluid. -

Sounds like Meniere's. Trauma is a pretty rare cause but not unheard of.

Fellow testicle sporting forumengers..
So I've been diagnosed with an inflammation of the epididymis, which sounds more painful then it in reality is.
I've been put on doxycycline for three weeks as an antibiotic from last Friday and I am quite off from it:
Balls feel like they're 2kgs each
Bit foggy in the head
Taste perception is offI've put off putting the aforementioned heavy balls on a saddle for the foreseeable.
Please confirm this is all quite normal and I should htfu..?!
I've only had one antibiotic which was definitely not doxycycline previously for an infection of another part of the nether region and I didn't have any side effects so just checking.

I've had antibiotics that have made me feel worse than the thing they're trying to fix, so yeah, suck it up and take the full course as prescribed.
-
• #417
That I will. Don't want to contribute to the other possible civilisation ending increase of resistance of bacteria to antibiotics.
Reading up on it it's all quite normal, and I am thankful my stool is still solid.
Just wanted reassurance from strangers on the internet really -

Reading up it also says I should lay off coffee.
Shoot me dead right now, I don't want to live anymore.. -
• #419
Hmm I don't remember the no coffee thing. I do remember shitting through the eye of a needle afterwards until smashing some probiotics.

Famous last words.
Your comment reminds me I also read getting some gut biotics supplements to offset the unintentional mass killing of the good bacteria. Will get an ultrasound of my balls too on Friday. Oh the joy.

Enjoy that cold ultrasound jelly.

I'm still having to work laying down because of excrutiating nerve pain in my shoulder. It's doing my head in. Move my head, neck, arms or even touch the skin and it's like turning a flame on to the end of the right shoulder. Stupid body.

I've been having mini panic attacks for a week now - swollen stones sounds relatively acceptable.
-
• #424
Not sure if you drink, but a lot of antibiotics really don't mix well with alcohol either.
-
• #425
Yeah I figured that now the weekend and euros are done and dusted I should lay off on that too.
Kiddo fell on a stone last Weds and took a chunk out of his knee the size of my thumb which was hanging off. Went to a walk-in and the nurse applied steristrips to keep the piece in place and then dressing to cover it.
Have changed dressing - first time changing it it looked OK but far from healing. Dressing was due to come off today but the flap/chunk is not looking good. Grey/damp/smells etc. Am thinking it's likely going to have to come off. Going to air it out but def can't see how it's going to knit itself back together. Feels stitches would have been more appropriate than steristrips the first time around given age/activity of patient and state of damage. Neither of us looking forward to another 4 hour wait.
