Kiddo fell on a stone last Weds and took a chunk out of his knee the size of my thumb which was hanging off. Went to a walk-in and the nurse applied steristrips to keep the piece in place and then dressing to cover it.
Have changed dressing - first time changing it it looked OK but far from healing. Dressing was due to come off today but the flap/chunk is not looking good. Grey/damp/smells etc. Am thinking it's likely going to have to come off. Going to air it out but def can't see how it's going to knit itself back together. Feels stitches would have been more appropriate than steristrips the first time around given age/activity of patient and state of damage. Neither of us looking forward to another 4 hour wait.
