Can I ask - did you rate this as a kids bike? I'm considering the 24" equivalent for my soon to be 8 year old. He's done some of the local cx league but it would be mostly for bimbling around local gentle trails. I can't decide between this sort of thing or another kids MTB, which I feel would be more versatile, albeit slower and heavier.

Yeah it was good and served both my boys well. They used it at the Herne Hill off road club for years and never had any real issues with it although the canti breaks could be a bit fiddly to align properly. Only other thing to consider would be the limited gear range because they would struggle on really steep gradients.
