Cheers, sadly all my garlic rotted before I even got it in the ground.

Hadn't been up in nearly two weeks but it's looking good, horseradish has survived. Beans, celeriac, squashes and a few annual flowers put in, hoping the slugs are on holiday. Met two new tenants.

If I planted first earlies last weekend, when should they be ready, approximately?
-
• #4855
Impressive tenants! Do you know what they are?
-
• #4856
I think it’s about 10-12 weeks for earlies.
We lifted our first plant of the season last weekend but I can’t recall off the top of my head when they went in. I do remember folk on here raising an eyebrow as I was pretty quick to get mine in so probably slower than ones planted now. -

I’ll set myself an alarm to remind myself to harvest. That’s the bit i forget to do.
-

Yeah, I have absolutely no idea when I planted my onions and garlic either, I really should start taking notes. Setting reminders on the phone is genius though.

I keep all my allotment photos in an album so I can check the dates of when stuff went in. The current cold night time temperatures seem to have upset my toms and beans though, quite a few yellowed leaves.

Where's this? I'd love to see a big stag beetle like that in the wild.

East Hampshire - I'd say I see a couple every year.
@Monster1985 no idea what the egg is unfortunately.

Pretty sure the egg belongs to a robin.Stag bottle is impressive.
Lots of slow worms on ours,I had quite a job on convincing our Polish neighbour they aren't snakes. -

I had a huge one fly over me on Friday evening as I walked up the garden at around 9:30 pm. We get a lot around here (here is Beckenham, south-east London).

Someone on our allotments (Peckham) gets them in his compost bin
All the random seeds I threw on the plot are germinating and I didn't label anything so just waiting for things to get bigger to figure out if they're edible or a weed. To be fair, I labelled stuff last year and the foxes chewed the labels up.

I should go pull up some spuds and water the tunnel but I’ve got covid and feel like pure shite.

Dragged myself out the house. Worth it for the berries

Impressive haul, tomatoes looking good. My dad is bringing in a tonne of strawberries at the moment.
Feeling like I’m going to miss the boat on a lot of stuff this year. Managed to germinate a solitary bean plant, most of my cucumbers died and I haven’t stuck in the two that survived. Sweetcorn, squash and spuds should be fine. Tomatoes a bit late but will get there, but really not got much else.

People on our site are still planting out and sowing so don’t think you’ll be too late on most stuff.
Our beans are looking bobbins but the peas are 6ft tall now and bushing out. -

I’ve got some everbearing strawberries enroute

Started the weekend with a shed, ended with the base for a greenhouse. Minor error on my part as it seems the greenhouse we got is 8x8 which is a. too big for my base and b. technically too big for the allotment regulations.

I’m guessing your slabs aren’t cemented in place or that’d be a bit more problematic.
Didn’t realise your site was on such a slope, is it terraced?
-
• #4875
Sand and cement mix. I'd add another row of slabs to be wide enough but the gradient might be a factor - some are stepped and some are just on the slope.
I cut a few off mine this weekend. If your garlic starts bolting you can cut the flowers and the attached stem off and eat them. I had my first lot this weekend, absolutely delicious.
