Sure it must happen a lot in PMs and stuff then maybe less so on the threads themselves. Though Iโve seen haggling here and there.

Nice one, cheers for the heads up. Will haggle away!

There's no rule against it. Most people are offering mates rates or just process that send things to a good home... So I'd understand if people didn't appreciate being haggled with as it's already a steal. Likewise if someone is a pain during the buying process, do you really want to sell to them and potentially have them being a pain later?

What to do if you're want to sell an item but have no idea whatsoever of it's value?
I've got a set of track wheels Mavic MA2 anodised with Campag hubs and Continental tub tyres but I can only find one similar set.
They're in the USA and want $650 for them. (Think they've got 2 hopes at that price ) !
I'm selling them for a close friend but firstly, don't want to undersell them and secondly, he wants them to be used. They are like new and have never been used outside.
Any useful information or guidance would be very much appreciated ๐

Help me out please.
Sold an item, posted with tracking, asked buyer to let me know when item arrived, waited a week, checked tracking, attempted delivery twice, on the third go they couldn't find the address (?), just checked again, and apparently it's on its way back to me.
I've contacted the buyer on here by pm, and text on the phone number they gave me, nowt, nada, zip, diddly squat, not a dicky bird.
What to do? -

All sorted, well kind of, contact has been made.

no, it's there to stop fishing expeditions to price items... not enforced if someone is serious about selling an item at a reasonable price.

Is there an established procedure for items sold between forum users that are lost in transit? Is the onus on seller to refund in part/full or is buyer left without?
-
• #342
How did you pay for it?
-
• #343
I'm the seller. Buyer paid using PP f&f. I sent tracked but foolishly discarded receipt after a couple of weeks having not heard that there were any issues, then buyer got in touch to let me know it hadn't arrived
-
• #344
Buyer took the chance by paying f&f.
Any chance you took a photo of the receipt? I guess you went to posted and paid at the counter and not one of the click and drop service?
-
• #345
Yes, paid at the counter. No photo of receipt sadly but have the transaction on my bank statement as (a not very good) proof of postage
-
• #346
Never tried it but possibly go back to the counter and see if they can reprint you a receipt?
Haggle away!
