• I’m not 100% sure of the name, but it’s close and it’s very much a thing. The ones I’ve serendipitously read all seem to feature nice young ladies, no men, late teens to mid-20s, with completed or ongoing university education, so I presume it’s not their idea to advertise in a magazine.

    Of course it doesn’t explicitly say it’s a personal ad, that would be uncouth. Instead it gives a general picture of the lady, and also an outline of her family. Presumably interested parents and aunties can contact the magazine and ask their children’s profile be forwarded to the family.
