  • Hah - amazing.

I want Peter Millard to do this now.

  • I'm getting this printed in LLL script for the wall.

  • i thought it was just me getting old when i can never remember if i've already drank my coffee or not until i look in the cup.

  • It’s not very often I need to brew 90g tbf.

I’ve been using it. I’ve Heath Robinson’d something to let the liquid flow into a cup. I will get a carafe but it’s £60 and I’m not that desperate for it when it’s only me that drinks it.

My Made By Knock hand grinder has given up the ghost so that’s going back under warranty. Which MBK have dealt with excellently. 👍🏼

  • Blimey, £60 for a little jug is spicy!

  • How old was your knock out of interest?

  • @Stevethecoffee or other who have recently ordered from YBCR - just gone to order and the only option for shipping was £12 for standard - is this usual? Appreciate associated costs may have increased but this seemed like quite a lot compared to what YBCR or other shipping has cost before.

  • Never ordered from them but just gone to the site, added a bag of beans, clicked to checkout, put in a (London) postcode, and it told me standard delivery was £3.40 up to 1kg.

  • I paid £5.50 most recently (1kg to Frome). Ordered after 2pm on Fri, arrived Saturday morning! One slick operation over there at YB. Very much enjoying the Peru El Oso.

  • No something’s gone wrong there. Please email coffee@yellowbourbon.co.uk and they’ll sort it for you.

  • Did a YB order today, P&P £3.40 for 3*250g so all as normal for me.

  • Thanks all, and Steve in particular. Will email and see what can be done.

I bought one of these about a month ago - don’t need it anymore if anyone’s interested? £50, obo :-)

  • Is there a reliable, easily obtainable and not too expensive coffee that people recommend for dialling in espresso? I have a gaggia classic modded to 6 bar and a timemore sculptor 64s and I'm going through a lot of beans as I get my eye in and surmount various teething problems...

  • Yellow bourbon espresso blend is great and affordable. I used it as a daily driver pretty much exclusively when I was making espresso at home.

  • I'll second @Nef, kilo of YB espresso.

You might save a few quid on supermarket beans but I find they behave real differently to speciality, even the better/fresher ones. That means savings are offset by extending dialling in once you switch back.

  • some potential good deals on bella barista: https://bellabarista.co.uk/collections/outlet

  • YB Espresso Blend for me as well…buy it by 1 or 2 kg batches. The only beans my wife and I have drunk for about 5 years now…

  • Have any of the La Pavoni lever machine owners here replaced a boiler gasket?

My Europiccola literally blew a gasket when I was cleaning it, and I have discovered that the best way to remove the boiler is to import a $120 machined tool to do so.

Any slightly more ghetto solution ideas?

  • Do you mean the boiler to base gasket? If your boiler is not loose (rotating) then leave alone. If it is loose then a 3-pronged oil filter wrench will do the job.

  • This gasket here:

I don't see how to replace it without removing the boiler from the base.

I'll try a 3 prong wrench. Pray 4 my knuckles.

  • Yep, oil filter wrench and a breaker bar will do you good. Vice may be a good shout too.

Make sure you get the correct upper and lower gaskets for your machine 😁

  • +1 on the oil filter wrench, before I discovered that I was just using the torque I could apply to the allen bolts. Probably not sufficient and also risking stripping some threads.

  • Another vote for oil filter wrench here. I've seen those 'special tools' crack and is be fuming if that was me.
