I'd love one but was shot down by finance years ago.

Pros:
- less soap required to wash your hair
- less limescale on every-fucking-thing
- water consuming appliances last longer
Cons
- tastes a bit weird
- cost
- locating the kit

I'd always put the kitchen on a separate run so it isn't softened. Doesn't help with the bathroom tap though.

Ditto. We just have a 3 way kitchen tap with a hard water bypass for the drinking.
