lacquer over
That's a bastard innit. I have a mad full carbon 1" fork with about 49 decals on it under clear... Need to find someone with a sandblaster and some walnut shell or something.

What bars on the TVM, @CaptRollerPig? I'm not sure which way to go for MGOOF 26.0 bars that work nicely with a 26.0 quill stem and modern shifters.
I look forward to seeing the bike round Hastings.

Im using Nitto M106 Nas bars @lesterama with a 3ttt record 84 stem, it was an absolute faff to get the stem though the tight bends but a lot of swearing and wd40 worked!
@Kimmo tell me about it! So annoying

I think the nitto m106, soma hwy1, and deda piega have quite similar compact modern shape. The modern shapes have more of an acute bend. The nitto m151 and m109 are compact shaped but less acute and easier to fit through quills I've found.

Back in the dark days before I left quill stems behind, never to return, I sometimes used to hold the bar clamp open with something jammed in the gap after removing the bolt, often helped a lot. I think I first tried it when trying to avoid scratching outside the clamp area of the bar, but found it also helped heaps with getting the bar through to that point.

Some of the later quill stems had a second bolt that would allow you to open the angle a bit, and towards the peak of the ergo bars there were a few hinged or opening quill stems as everything transitioned to ahead stems.
You can probably get some compact style ones through a quill but not an ultra compact. And careful when spreading the stem not to stress the metal to much but definitely the best way to do it !

Shameless post of my mxl again. Although I think I replaced the hoods and tape since I last posted. Pulled it out the shed for my annual belgium trip with my mates, should ride it more often.

Nice and tidy

Wow. This is so sweet! Some shallow section rims would finish it off very nicely.
What are the handlebars??

Stem / bar transition is particularly pleasing.

Deda special something (elementi?). I'm sure it was recommended by someone one here somewhere. I love that it is quite narrow. For the wheels I'd go for a pair of hyperons, but can I justify it for a bike that I hardly use (and also bought a set of hed 3's for 😬)?

Its 25 gp5000. I changed it from 25 gp4000 that rubs on the front fork because its too wide

Bit of a hiccup on my EPS installation, I need on of those Campag EPS internal Bottom Bracket cable guide widgets.
One of these:
And they are like hens teeth to find in stock.
Does anyone have one knocking about?

Do you though? Seems like you just need a plastic sleeve to keep the cables off the spindle. Couldn't you just cut a strip from a smooth-walled plastic bottle and tape it up?

xxcycle.com and SMI have it. Will cost you more in shipping than the part, but it is available. Bought from both, went smoothly. SMI particularly speaks campagnolo.
You might need some other parts like this one
I was at a bike market, and there was a classic steel frame with Athena EPS. Unfortunately I didn't pay much attention at the wiring, but he was using the battery attached on the bottle cage (triangular battery). It might be from a shop next to my place, if it is there I will take picture from the wiring.

EPS (first) installation done.
Went with helicopter tape and heat shrink tubes, with addition of electrical tape and cable spirals where necessary.
The cockpit is busy and pretty awful, but I will live with it for now. (It is quite limited by a cock up of threading the rear brake outer through the wrong pair of EPS cables going to the junction box. Since the internal routing of that brake cable was an arse, I am not minded to redo it!)
The main thing is, it rides like a dream.

And, obviously, no drilling.
Just some filing out of the BB drain hole to make room for the cables and the grommet.

The wicker front rack is a nice touch as well…

Might help, but you'd need to go threadless or get the GripNut to convert?
