Craig David's reaction is very moving. https://www.joe.ie/movies-tv/craig-david-says-bo-selecta-racist-ruined-life-756385 At the time I thought the MJ skits were hilarious and creative. But I feel ashamed now. Nearly all the people I mix with these days are black.

Fonehacker guy was Asian/iranian so slightly more complicated than your normal Caucasian black face/voice

The first time I watched it was with a mate in Cardiff and we were both incredibly high.
In Wales you didn't get Channel 4, you got S4C which would often have different programmes. We assumed it was a Welsh Alistair McGowan style impersonator and weren't very impressed / couldn't understand what the fuck was going on or how it had been allowed to be broadcast.
Ever since then I struggled to find it funny. Although the Lorraine Kelly one did make me chuckle.

What about this cheeky chappy?

That's allowed. Criticising it is adjacent to "white lives matter."

Amongst other characters.
We did like the “internet service providings” guy, purely because we used to get those same calls ourselves back in the days when we had a landline.
Victor Lewis-Smith did it way better.

masking up as black people just a few years ago
Us colonials can be backwards as fuck...
There was a Saturday night variety show last century that went for decades and was hugely popular... Then in 2009 there was a couple of reunion specials, and talk of it restarting a regular run, but that ran off the rails when we totally mortified Harry Connick. We didn't realise what racist fucks we were until the internet, with half of us still refusing to smell the coffee to this day.

I listened the episode of the Adam Buxton podcast with Kayvan Novak. He was asked about portraying black characters and didn't really have a great answer as to whether or not be thought it was appropriate. It does come across as less spicy than a white person doing it because there isn't the same undertone of colonialism and systemic racism but it's still a bit uncomfortable.

yeah which is why I say it's complicated, quie interesting to see who gets to impersonate who and not catch flak for it, probably depends on how racially diverse your audience is I suppose.

Idk what Discogs is. But I'd put money on them spending too much time on coffee too.
I suppose there could also be a phase when Warhammer nerds transition from Monster to cold brew.

Yet it's mostly white guys imitating the voice in my presence. Maybe because for a lot of people they don't know who is behind the mask. I'm not sure I feel any better that white people aren't as bothered because a brown person made the joke instead of a white person. Hits the same for me
Trust me, you’ll be convinced
