  • Yep. Midlife Crisis no 3 imminent

  • Midlife Crisis no 3

I didn't realise that it's allowable to have more than one. This is great news!

  • One hopes that this is an original A110.

@NurseHolliday Alpine is a sporty Renault brand now, has been since Renault bought it. All the sporty Renault were built by alpine. Think the 5 turbo was there first.

  • Obvs the old ones are lush. But no I’m hankering after the modern thing, A110. Bloody gorgeous.

O/H has basically said she’ll leave me if I got one. Another great reason heh

  • What about a sunbeam Alpine? Or the tiger....

The early a110 is not very comfortable or easy to get in and out of.

Also I agree with your wife. The modern ones look neaveux riche

  • I really am NOT the vintage car guy. Unlike with bikes. Give me the alloy chassis, all new cruise control automatic whatevs. I mean my current car is a fucking shambles but it does drive lovely, a Golf estate.

  • Is it sponsored by Adidas?

  • How stupid is it to buy a ds? From Scotland, well just the edge. Then drive it to Paris and back to London.

    @johnnettles2 your advice is welcome.

  • Sounds like a fab plan! Am well jell as always wanted to do a long road trip.
    Any link ?
Things to watch out for that cost £££
Power steering rack leaks ( around £1000 for replacement) , hydraulic pump recycling time (anything under 15 seconds indicates more leaks which could be anywhere! ) gear changes and the dreaded rust!! Carb cars a lot simpler than fuel injection but slower. If you need a nice leather front arm rest I have 2 for sale!
If the car has Michelin xas or xvs tyres (£1000 for 4) it’ll drive a lot nicer than with modern tyres…

  • I'll take the TWR Shaguar ta.

Having just returned from a camping trip it does crack me up these roof rack tents on spats cars (Red NSX alt) being nothing more than a drag coefficient in terms of actual practicality.

  • Probably quite stupid, but life is for living and you'll never remember the time you stayed home and didn't road trip a DS to France.

It's an old Citroen in Scotland, so rust is the main concern. Don't buy a rotten one unless it's very cheap.

I bought a CX in Glasgow and took it back home to Brighton. 10/10 great trip and a wonderful car. It was definitely a bit crusty though!

  • all kinds of wonderful wrong dude. do it

  • dudes! long time...

finally, the b turns a wheel in anger...

  • fucking hell yeah! and sounds great. awesome

  • Such a beautiful car.

These, and the GS, are two of the most elegant and handsome passenger vehicles ever made imo.

  • So we have now added a dog (lab) to the family.
I have an old but trusty A4 Avant that still drives great with plenty of miles left on it.
Because I'm selfish I'm keen not to get a larger vehicle that drives like a people carrier or looks like an SUV.

On the few times a year we need to take luggage can anyone tell me if Cargo Boxes on a roof rack are a good idea beyond fuel economy and security? Thinking of Thule...

  • Nice day for a kerb-side timing belt, dephaser & water pump change
