I guess he means he's not Oxbridge>researcher>Spad>MP and had a real job once.

But you're right that was quite a long time ago now.

I wonder if he'd put David Davis or even Starmer (the son of a tool maker) in the category of "career political class”.

By that definition, Sunak, Truss, Johnson, May and Cameron aren’t “careers politicians” so who the fuck is he referring to? Probably civil servants/the deep state.
