Am I wrong to hanker after an Alpine? My other half is totally bewildered when i told her I love them.

Absolutely not. My mate who worked at multimatic and is a dynamic systems/suspension nerd said the Alpine is the car to get in that class if your number one priority is "handing" over outright grip. Helps that it looks wonderful too.
