If you were wondering why Chelsea ran away with the league this year:

Let’s pretend that they didn’t sell £250m+ of players because that fits the narrative right.

I don't think it's controversial at all. But he was a far better player than Ancelotti, probably only Cruyff and Beckenbauer were better players than him.
As a manager he's won more Champions League trophies than Ferguson, and the same number as Guardiola, which is pretty impressive. But I think if he were to be a truly great manager he'd need to repeat the success he had in Madrid in another league.

Very clever. Driving up the compensation price for when he leaves.

It's a very, very silly argument.
So Marescaball next season, eh? Hold onto your hats.

Citation needed.

Brian Clough and Trapattoni were cloggers.

His record with England is good.
Boro less so. -

Maybe a bit early to say for sure but Alonso looks like he might be on the list

Jose to manage Fenerbache. There will be deaths.

£55mn for lavia who didn't play once last season is peak chelsea in this new era ... ooops sorry he played for 32mins my bad.
worked out for southampton though

Clough scored about 300 goals in 300 games until he did his ACL. absolute baller

Sure, but any other manager would be 20 points ahead etc.
If he wins the Euros I'll give him a pass, but he has till now woefully underused the talent available. And perhaps that is 'sensible tournament football' but I can't help but feel that England could have been much, much better over the last few years under a better manager.Ideally I'd like him to go to Utd for next season.

It’s just wrong. He was okay, at both.

• #169292
Steve McClaren could manage this lot. International management is for anyone.

No love/hatred for Souness?

5 year contract. Clever of Chelsea to amortise their manager deals too.

• #169296
It was the mention of Jose to Fenerbahce that reminded me of the above.
-
• #169297
As player or manager? He was a great defender.
-
• #169298
still one of my favourite football moments

Klinsmann
Not a great manager by any measure.
And we all know it was Jogi Low who was really coaching that Germany team.

I don't think any England manager could do better with these players. National pride distorts the perception of how good they really are and how good a squad we have. There's also 1 tournament every 2 years so the odds of winning a title are low.
Also there's harry kane's genetic disposition to reject trophies
I’d say Ancelotti, Rijkaard, Guardiola, Cruijff, Zidane, Beckenbauer, Luis Enrique, del Bosque, Dechamps all did pretty ok as players and as coaches.
