  • I will try. She's in odd form tonight. This is her right now - she is usually in someone's bed by now. I coughed and she immediately jumped up and left the room. She's stressed obviously and so am I!

  • Poor thing! And poor you too. What medicine is she on? How long before it's supposed to ease the pain?

What about Feliway? I don't know anything about it, but it seems to be a popular remedy for cat stress.

This site also has a list of causes of stress https://www.cats.org.uk/help-and-advice/health/cat-stress Maybe another cat is coming in through the catflap?

  • Metacam is the meds.
We don't have a cat flap and she relies on someone opening the door which is fun at 0400

  • Another stress/calming medication we got for May was Gabapentin - small drop in her wet food and it did seem to work

    Not bloody cheap though

  • Thanks for the info.

  • About 18 months ago it was our state election, and we went for a stroll a couple of hundred metres up the street to the community centre to vote. Pippin, aka Mister Fwuff, must've heard about democracy sausages, and came to see about one. Unfortunately there was no sausage sizzle that day; perhaps they only bust that out for federal elections.

Pip is just about the coolest cat I've ever known; dude is chill AF, super trusting and sociable... he's a bit of a local celebrity. Dude waited outside five or ten minutes for us to vote, and then accompanied us home again.

  • Bizarrely, on the way to vote, I was ambushed by an angry swarm of bees hanging around a neighbour's bins. Caught by surprise as I came past the end of their fence, I'd only had time to think, that's a lot of bees, before they came at me. Ran across the road freaking out as one half-stung me on the forehead (managed to brush it away before it got much venom in), and as I looked back, Fwuff was running across the road too. The missus was luckily a few paces behind and got to witness all this commotion in safety... Shot this little vid on the way home.

  • How is she doing?

  • The stress from the vet trip seems to have dissipated. She is a bit better but not back to normal. Meds seem to be working. The good weather may be a factor as she is staying outside for longer periods.
Progress is good no matter how slow.
    Thanks for asking.

  • Flora seems to like coming for a walk to play on the tractor. She has not yet met a owl there.

  • Hendricks has the shits. He’s very sad about his cone of shame.

  • Asks for dry food, gets given dry food, is sick in her litter tray, goes back to finishing off remaining dry food. Did it both yesterday and this morning. Cats are funny sometimes.

  • Being sick in her litter tray and not on your bed or your favourite rug? That's a cat in a million. Give her a pay rise.

  • Have to say I was also rather impressed. She also lets out a pretty obvious audible clue - thank God

  • May has decided to start scratching her chin excessively to the point where she's bleeding. We've put the cone of shame on for the time being but is there anything obvious that would bring this on? I don't think it's any flea or worming issue as she's up to date with her treatments...

  • Are there little black spots? could be cat acne.

Usually caused by dirty water or food bowl - bacteria gets in there when they're eating / drinking. If not, probably worth a vet visit.

  • OH has suggested cat acne and swapped food/drink bowls around, although we already had ceramic ones which I thought were better for that kind of thing. She's on some anti-inflammatory stuff as well anyway...

  • FWIW, adding to the KatKin love. Tested it with our 10-ish British Short Hair who has always had a sensitive stomach and recently has lost loads of weight despite eating loads, improvement in her health has been incredible in only a couple weeks, genuinely feel guilty for feeding her "premium" wet and dry for years.

  • Katkin over royal canin?

  • Suspect so but I don't know much about Royal Canin except it's owned by Mars. Our cat was on Gourmet Perle

  • Cats with GoPro videos are most distracting. Great noises. In this one the cameracat grabs a mouthful of a rival's fur https://x.com/EfsoSahne/status/1796947831325962500
