We’ve got black beauty courgettes this year. A neighbour grows them.
I hate them usually but apparently they stay pretty firm when cooked and don’t go all mushy. We shall see.The plants are only a few weeks old and look solid already.

I’m sure you’re right. It’s not a perfect system of course. It’s allowed the sons of Denny, the old boy who recently passed after tending his plot for 50yrs to inherit his plot though and I’m ok with that.

Damn.
Maybe see if they have volunteering days etc(as if anyone has time for that), we got ours by being on the list but there definitely seems to be a lot of brown nosing going on as well. We’re currently trying to get 4 ‘abandoned’ plots back in play. All owned by Santa tenants who miraculously show up the day before inspections to vaguely wave a strimmer around.
Despite the allotment officer being told by multiple tenants, and the liaison tenant(chief curtain twitcher) it seems to take at least 2 years to kick someone off once they stop tending the plot.
Seems to be the one thing that our officer in particular really drags their heels on. -

Strawberries in the strawberry pot are going great guns. Cane back from holiday yesterday and there was even one ready! Excuse the excitement, it's the firstbtime I've grown strawberries 😅

It's definitely a good year for strawberries. Ours have gone mental this year too.

That pot is really nice. Might have to get one.
My brassicas are getting battered by shield bugs. Thankfully easy to spot.

You're not in the UK right? Because I have one you could have that I pinched from my mum. I found them hard to keep sufficiently watered and they're a bugger to net to stop the birds. Must admit mine didn't look as good as @user67526

Sadly I'm not but thanks!
I need to net my strawberries soon, but the ants see to be busier than anything else on them currently! Well between the ants and my son I doubt I'll see a strawberry myself!

I think the rule with garlic is wait for the stems to collapse then lift.

First actual plants added to the new plot last night- grushovka tomatoes (determinate)
Possibly already entirely consumed by slugs

I’ve got the same ones growing…..I haven’t seen slugs have much of a taste for tomato leaves so I reckon you’ll be ok

We’ve had strawbs already along with few tayberries, they maybe could have gone a couple more days as quite tart.
Our blueberry bushes are groaning under the weight of berries.
Def a good year for fruit. -

New hotbed established with seeds planted. Tomatoes seem to be happy enough in the greenhouse…..probably got too many plants in there. Generally the weed growth is pretty wild!

Yes just put the second tree in today. I’ve only had a few but they are different league against what you get in the shops

Big planting day today. Courgettes, dwarf, runner and french beans, kohlrabi, beetroots, romanesco, tomatoes and swedes all gone in. Just need my marigolds to grow a bit faster so they can go in too.
Sown some hyacinth beans, red orach, amaranth and lovage. Realised I've still got kalettes and sprouting broccoli to harden off, no idea where they are going!

When did they go in?
Think we did ours in November but leaves haven’t yellowed yet so guess they’ll go a little longer? -

Looks like you've planted a whole bulb and those are all the individual cloves trying to grow.
