  • It's actually at my mum's house in Leicestershire. I live outside of the UK, but am back in June, so could possibly be flexible on viewing/delivery (I'll probably spend a bit of time in London along with Glasgow).

    Postage an option also.

I will have to look up the measurements, but the TT is 55cm.

Got a bunch more photos etc. One odd thing is that a frameset with the same paint scheme appeared in the 1997 catalogue. But this one appears to have a serial number that points to 1984. I've never seen another Mercian with this paint, but have seen one with a very similar design in pink, so assume it was a special offered by Mercian?

Edit: they are tubs - Ambrosio rims and campagnolo hubs.

  • Thanks for reply with added info. Lovely looking frame.

  • Also, do start a sale thread if no interest here. With full spec. Can't imagine it'll hang around long. GLWS

  • I’ll dig it out, it’s not near me right now…..I’m 6’ tall and ride a large in most mountain bikes, and I think it’s roughly 57 square?

  • Ta - no rush - seem to remember it was a beaut.

  • Thanks fella, it’s a lovely thing, but I just don’t ride it anymore, which is a shame…..
I’ll be selling quite a lot of stuff over the coming weeks, so will make a thread for everything when it’s with me…..

  • This is really sad news! I've had 3 Mercians (all seconds) but always wanted a custom made one.

    RIP

  • What size is the frame?

  • I’ll check everything when I dig it out, but it’s around 56-57 ish?

  • You think it would be possible to turn up tomorrow and have a poke around?

  • 13 finished frames might go cheap sold as one lot.
I hope someone buys the archive so it’s preserved.

  • I'll have the one on the right please !

  • maybe, if you can convince the solicitors you’re a credible buyer…?

  • This is so hilariously depressing lmao

  • I fail to see the humour .

  • I might give them a ring and see if I can pop down at lunchtime

  • viewing booked

  • Ay, there's the rub.

  • Can confirm it was all a bit sad. Some lovely frames hanging and ready for new owners, lots of detritus of years of manufacture. I've poppedd a couple of bids in on some little bits and pieces that's all

  • Damn that's so sad. Had 2 Mercians in the past. A track and path Vincitore and a King of Mercia touring bike that was a dream to ride on a 3 month euro-tour years ago.

  • Is it not the case that those frames would have already had deposits / owners that may have been stuffed with the bankruptcy?

  • was thinking the same thing - pretty shit if that's the case.
